Washing a veil in a washing machine

Washing a veil in a washing machineVoile is an airy and light mesh fabric that is widely used in the interiors of living rooms, children's rooms and bedrooms. But its beauty must be constantly maintained by properly caring for the canvas. Otherwise, the delicate material will either become dirty or deteriorate due to improper washing. You can wash the veil in the washing machine, as well as by hand. The main thing is to follow a few important rules.

Stick to the basic rules

All delicate fabrics require special care, and veils are no exception. Ideally, you need to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, which are necessarily provided on the label or packaging of the product. If there is no specific information on the composition of the material and the conditions for washing it, then we adhere to the general rules:

  • give preference to hand washing as the most gentle;
  • Before washing, it is better to soak the item for 1-2 hours;
  • For soaking, use cold water with the addition of a gentle detergent;
  • eliminate intense friction, twisting and wringing;Hand wash is suitable for organza
  • to remove stains, choose bleaches that do not contain chlorine and other aggressive components;
  • wash in a washing machine only on the “Delicate” or “Manual” mode, eliminating the spin cycle and limiting the water heating to 30-40 degrees.

Washing the veil in an automatic machine is allowed, but only on a delicate or manual program with minimal spin and heating of water.

It is important to dry the synthetic veil properly. Artificial drying, including automatic drying, is prohibited - it will damage the fibers due to high temperature. The optimal place for drying will be a ventilated room, balcony or room, protected from direct sunlight.A clean cloth must be laid out on a straight horizontal surface in a damp state and water must be allowed to drain freely from the fibers. Curtains and drapes can be hung on curtains while still wet - this way the material will straighten itself.

You can iron the veil, but only from the inside out and through gauze. If the fabric will not be used immediately, it is recommended to roll it up before “sending” it to the closet for storage.

Automatic care

The veil tolerates automatic washing well, but only with the correct machine settings and taking into account the characteristics of the fabric. Thus, mesh materials have an airy structure, which leads to increased foaming. To completely rinse the product and protect the equipment from an abundance of foam, you will have to reduce the amount of detergent added by half. The second point concerns optimal washing conditions. Ideally, select the special program “Delicate”, “Delicate fabrics”, “Curtains” or “Handmade”. If the washing machine does not have these, then we set up the machine manually:set it to 30 degrees

  • spin – turn off or reduce to minimum;
  • temperature – up to 30 degrees;
  • cycle duration – from 30 minutes;
  • additional functions - double rinse;
  • soaking - if necessary.

When washing a veil in a machine, it is recommended to use liquid detergents.

The third point is correct loading. The veil is placed in the drum only in a folded form. It is better to place the roll in a special bag to protect it from friction against the metal surfaces of the tank. We also pay attention to the detergent. For delicate fabrics, gels are recommended that dissolve better in cold water and are gentle on cleaning. Shampoos that have an antistatic effect are ideal.

Traditional care

Experienced housewives advise not to take risks and wash the veil only by hand. This option will allow you to clean delicate fabric as carefully as possible. To ensure that “traditional” cleaning goes without surprises, it is recommended to take into account several rules:

  • before washing, the veil is thoroughly shaken to rid the fibers of dust;
  • if there are stains, soak the fabric in a cold soapy solution for 30-60 minutes;
  • liquid detergents are selected;hand wash veil
  • if powder is used, the granules are pre-dissolved in water;
  • washing takes place in a large container and in water heated to a temperature of 30 degrees;
  • the material does not rub, but is easily squeezed and crushed.

Recommendations for rinsing, spinning and drying remain the same. We do not twist or stretch the fabric, acting as carefully and smoothly as possible. We rinse at least 2 times, using cold water in large quantities. Afterwards, hang the veil and do not touch it until it dries completely.

Returning the whiteness of fabric

More often in interiors, white and light veils are used, from which tulles are sewn. This is aesthetically pleasing, but not always practical - the curtains quickly become dirty, losing their original shade. To restore the whiteness of the fabric without damaging the weave of the fibers, you will have to delicately bleach the material. It is cheaper to use pharmaceutical products according to the following instructions:

  • fill the basin with water heated to 30 degrees;
  • add hydrogen peroxide and ammonia to the water in a ratio of 2 to 1;
  • lower the veil into the resulting solution;
  • soak the curtains for 30-40 minutes;
  • rinse several times until the specific odor disappears;
  • dry.veil bleaching

Another option is table salt. It is enough to add a saline solution to the powder receptacle or basin every time you wash the veil. In this case, aggressive bleaching will not be necessary, since the light shade will be maintained.

To wash the veil, choose products without chlorine!

If the veil is heavily soiled, professional chemicals will help restore its whiteness. We are talking about special bleaches. For delicate fabrics, two options are suitable: optical and oxygen.

  1. Optical brightener. Thanks to the active components, it quickly penetrates the structure of the fibers and pushes dirt out of them. After one-time use, it returns the white color to yellowed and grayed products. Do not use for washing colored veils, as the particles will wash out the pigment.
  2. Oxygen bleach. It acts as gently and carefully as possible, which allows you to clean both white and colored veil items. Moreover, such a product is absolutely safe for curtains with patterns, patterns and inserts.

You can also bleach a veil using bluing: add the product to warm water and rinse in the solution for 5 minutes. Another option is to soap the fabric, soak for 40 minutes and rinse in a lemon solution.
