Washing mixed fabrics

Washing mixed fabricsMany people prefer to wear clothes made from mixed fabrics. These are modern combined materials that combine the delights of both natural and artificial fibers. They are distinguished by practicality, durability, availability and low price. But not everyone knows how to properly wash mixed fabrics. We suggest not to use the random method, but to understand the nuances of cleaning the so-called “mixture”.

What fabrics are we talking about?

The name speaks for itself - mixed fabrics include fabrics made from several types of fibers, artificial and natural. It is difficult to say their exact number, since every year new textiles with improved characteristics and properties are invented and introduced. The range of uses of the mixture is also impressive: it is used to make home and sportswear, underwear, travel equipment, clothing and uniforms.

The mixture is also widely represented on the Russian market. The following names are more common.

  • Taslan. Made of polyamide and complemented with rep weave, protective impregnation, reinforcing threads and reinforcing fishing line. All this makes the textile practical, wear-resistant and resistant to deformation.
  • Tisi. A cotton-polyester blend that resists wrinkles, creases, snags and is highly breathable. Often used when sewing medical gowns.
  • Duspo. A versatile mixed fabric consisting of polyamide fibers and plain weave. For increased wear resistance, it is treated with a special impregnation.types of mixed fabrics
  • Taffeta. It is a combination of polyester and nylon: elastic, shiny and shimmering in the light.
  • Memory.A unique material with a memory effect: after deformation, it retains its original shape until washed and ironed. It is made from synthetics, but there are also variations using cotton threads. It is important that the percentage of natural fibers does not exceed 30%, otherwise things will lose their ability to “remember”.
  • Oxford. A mixture of nylon and polyester, complemented by water-repellent impregnation.

This is only a small part of the mixed fabrics created. But there is no point in listing all the variations - all laundry from the mixture is washed almost the same.

Features of care

Blended fabrics have unique characteristics, and the effect lasts for 5 years of active use. But provided that the consumer properly cares for the clothing and follows the manufacturer’s recommendations. The latter are necessarily listed on the label. Most products from the mixture can be washed in a washing machine. But there are exceptions, marked with a “dry clean only” icon.

It is important to figure out in advance how to wash items made from mixed fabrics. Formulations with bleaching components, chlorine and conditioner can damage the material. Only durable uniforms can withstand aggressive powders; when washing other items, it is better to use a gel or a helium capsule.

When washing a mixture automatically, select the “Mixed fabrics” or “Synthetics” mode.

We also remember the following recommendations:select the mixed fabric program

  • when washing in a machine, select the “Mixed fabrics” or “Synthetics” program (in extreme cases, “Quick wash”);
  • disable automatic spin;
  • we check that the water heating temperature does not exceed 40 degrees;
  • We refuse the drying machine and hang the product to dry in a ventilated room away from heating devices and direct ultraviolet radiation.

It is not recommended to bleach, boil or soak products from the mixture - it is better to limit contact with water. In most cases, a comprehensive wash is not necessary. A gentle detergent and a quick scrub are enough to wash your clothes. Mixed fabrics are treated with a special impregnation that repels dirt, preventing stains from forming.

Blended textiles offer the consumer a “golden mean”: the strength of synthetics and the breathability of natural fabrics. The result is wear-resistant, breathable and comfortable clothing that is suitable for everyday life, sports and safe work activities. The main thing is to remember the characteristics of the material and care for it correctly.
