The washing machine pipe is leaking

The washing machine pipe is leakingWhat to do if you find a puddle under a working washing machine? You need to act immediately, as water on the floor not only causes inconvenience, but can also damage the furniture and “get through” to the neighbors below. If you are sure that the washing machine pipe is leaking, then there will be much less work - you will not have to diagnose the machine. Let's figure out how to fix the damage.

What do we do right away?

If you discover that the machine is leaking, you need to quickly turn off the power to the machine. It is important not to touch or step in the water until the power supply is turned off. This is very dangerous - the washing machine remains energized, so any contact with liquid will pose a threat to your health. After turning off the power to the washing machine, it is necessary to close the shut-off valve, which is responsible for the flow of water into the machine. By turning the tap on the pipe, you can wipe the floor.unplug the machine's power cord from the outlet and wait 15-20 minutes

The next step is to drain the water from the washing machine tank using a special emergency hose. The tube with a plug is located at the bottom of the machine, near the garbage filter. Pull out the pipe plug and collect the liquid in a previously prepared container. At the end, all that remains is to take things out of the drum. The machine should open on its own when all the water has been removed from the tank. If this does not happen, you can deal with the lock using a rope, wrapping it around the handle of the machine and pulling the ends.

Only after de-energizing and freeing the machine can you begin to diagnose the machine and find out which pipe is leaking.

Element between powder receiver and tank

A fairly large hose extends from the powder receiver, through which water with dissolved detergent enters the tank. Often the pipe leaks in the area of the clamps - so you should first check the reliability of the connections. A leak may occur because the clamp is not tightened enough. Also, on the contrary, if the fixation is too strong, the pipe in this place may crack from excessive pressure. The third reason is the natural wear of the element; the rubber can fray due to too much vibration.

Assess the extent of the damage. If there is a crack at the end of the pipe, you can try to cut off the part with the defect and put the old hose back. When the affected area is larger, it is better to immediately replace the element with a new one. To pull out the pipe, you need to loosen the clamps located on both sides and pull the hose towards you. The further algorithm of actions will be as follows:The pipe between the powder receiver and the tank is leaking

  • clean off glue residues, traces of powder and other deposits from the terminals of the dispenser and tank;
  • wait until the surfaces dry;
  • connect the new pipe to the tank. For additional fixation, it is advisable to use epoxy glue or silicone moisture-resistant sealant;
  • connect the hose to the powder receptacle;
  • secure the pipe on both sides with clamps.

Do not over-tighten the clamps. The load on the rubber will be greater, and over time the pipe will leak again. This is why it is so important to secure the ends of the hose correctly.

Element between inlet valve and dispenser

If the machine leaks immediately after starting, take a closer look at the filler pipe. It connects the inlet valve and the detergent dispenser. The element is constantly under significant pressure, so it can leak.

It is not recommended to repair the filler pipe, namely, try to seal it with a rubber “patch” or rewind the crack.

A couple of washes and the water pressure will again punch a hole in the rubber hose.Therefore, if it is damaged, you need to immediately install a new pipe. To get to the hose, you need to remove the top cover of the machine. Inspect its surface - if there are no defects, it may be leaking due to loose clamps. Try tightening the fasteners. If this does not help, install a new filler pipe.pipes connecting the valve and dispenser

The pipe between the tank and the snail

The most difficult thing is when the washing machine drain pipe leaks. It is this hose that is damaged more often, since tens of liters of dirty water pass through it every time the machine is started. To inspect the element, you need to lay the washer on its side. The drain pipe connects the tank to the pump. If you find cracks on the rubber surface, you should immediately replace the hose.drain pipe

If there are no visible defects, inspect the junction of the pipe with the volute and the tank. Perhaps it's a matter of loose clamps. When the hose is intact, additional “sizing” of the joints or treating them with a moisture-resistant sealant can help. For SMA models with the Aquastop system, it will be difficult to access the drain pipe from below - they have a special tray with a float. Therefore, it is better to remove the back wall of the housing and get to the hose through the technical hatch.
