How to install a Hotpoint-Ariston dishwasher

You can install the Hotpoint-Ariston dishwasher yourself, without the help of a specialist. The algorithm of actions is quite simple, but there are several nuances that should be taken into account. We’ll figure out how to connect the PMM to communications, what tools will be needed during the work, and where it’s best to place the dishwasher.

Prepare a place for PMM

First of all, you need to think about where the dishwasher will be located. When choosing a location for the PMM, be sure to take into account the distance from the water supply and sewerage systems, proximity to other household appliances, and the condition of the floor covering. Let's look at each point separately.

• Remoteness from communications. Near the location of the PMM there must be a separate outlet with a voltage of 220 V. The use of an extension cord is not allowed. The optimal length of the drain hose is 1.5 meters, the maximum is 2.5 meters, so the sewer pipe should be located exactly at this distance, no further. Otherwise, the load on the dishwasher pump will be increased, and the machine will fail faster.
• Do not install the dishwasher near heat sources. It’s a bad idea to place PMMs near old-style electric stoves - their casing gets very hot. Modern stoves practically do not heat up, so such proximity is, in principle, acceptable.
• You should avoid proximity to an automatic washing machine; the body of the device vibrates strongly during spinning, which can damage the dishwasher. If the washing machine is installed in a separate niche, then placing the PMM next to it is acceptable.
• It is better not to place the machine on the edge of the kitchen.PMMs are installed under the countertop, so you will need to figure out how to cover the side wall of the dishwasher body. And these are additional costs.
• The floor under the dishwasher must be level and firm.
• If you purchase a built-in PMM, close attention should be paid to the dimensions of the case and the dimensions of the niche in which it is planned to be installed.

The optimal place to place the PMM is to the left or right of the sink.

If you install the machine near the kitchen sink, you will be close to communications. It will also be more convenient to load dishes from the sink into the appliance. Therefore, it is recommended to consider this placement option first.

What do you need to prepare for installing the PMM?

To connect the dishwasher, you will need a minimum of tools. In some cases, they will not be needed at all, for example, if there was previously a machine in this place, and all points for connecting to communications are organized.

When installing the machine and connecting to the water supply and sewerage system, you will need the following tools:

• adjustable wrench;
• pliers;
• screwdriver;
• building level.

You will also have to purchase consumables, such as:

• FUM tape;
• mounting plumbing tape;
• a siphon with an outlet (if there is an “elbow” without a fitting under the sink), or a tee to a sewer pipe (when there is no point for connecting the drain hose);
• tee tap for water supply, 3/4 in diameter;
• flow mesh filter.

Dishwasher drain and fill hoses are included with the appliance. Make sure they are long enough to connect to water and sewer lines. There is no point in “increasing” the corrugation, as this can lead to leaks. It is better to immediately purchase a new, longer sleeve if the factory one turned out to be short.

If you need to make a socket for the machine, you will need to purchase:

• copper wire (three-core, cross-section 2.5 mm);
• socket with a moisture-proof cover;
• difavtomat;
• Voltage regulator.

To make a socket, you need to have skills in working with the electrical network. If you have no experience, it is better to entrust the matter to a specialist. In the process you will need a hammer drill for punching walls, a cable duct, a screwdriver with an indicator, and wire cutters.

We install the PMM with our own hands

If you decide to connect the dishwasher yourself, be sure to read the instructions for the device. The manufacturer provides recommendations in the user manual for installing the dishwasher, and each model may have its own nuances. If you grossly violate the basic rules, you may be denied further warranty service.

The instructions for the Hotpoint-Ariston PMM indicate the dimensions for installation and provide recommendations for starting the dishwasher for the first time.

Almost all dishwashers are connected to cold water. However, there are models that can be connected to hot water supply. This feature is mentioned in the instructions for the device.

The machine is connected to the water supply through a special tee tap. It is placed in the pipe, and the inlet hose is connected to the free outlet. This device will allow you to turn off the water supply to the dishwasher if necessary.

Before installing the tee tap, be sure to turn off the cold water in the house. You need to wrap a little FUM tape around the thread, and then install the tap in the pipe. The inlet hose is screwed onto the outlet by hand; it has rubber gaskets, so there is no need to use additional seals at the junction.

It is recommended to install a special mesh filter in front of the PMM inlet hose.It will protect the machine from suspended matter contained in tap water.

Next, you need to connect the drain hose; it should have a bend at a distance of 50-60 cm from the floor level. There are two options on how to do this:

• connect the hose to the siphon;
• connect the drain hose to the sewer pipe directly through a tee (this method is usually chosen if the machine is located far from the kitchen sink).

It is better to connect the dishwasher drainage hose to the siphon. If you have an elbow installed in your kitchen without an additional outlet, replace it with a new one. It is very simple to screw the drain hose to the machine itself; the instructions describe the entire process in detail.

As for organizing the outlet for the PMM, this is a more difficult task. It will be necessary to draw a separate line of sufficient power from the shield. Be sure to install a voltage stabilizer that will protect expensive equipment from power surges.

The dishwasher outlet must be grounded and have a high level of moisture protection.

The length of the power cord for most Hotpoint-Ariston PMM models is one and a half meters. Therefore, it is important to make an outlet in close proximity to the dishwasher. You cannot use an extension cord - it is unsafe.

Having connected the machine to communications, it is necessary to align its body. To do this, adjust the legs of the device. The facade can be hung only after the final adjustment of the position of the PMM. The kit includes everything you need for installation. You will need to secure the strips with bolts and attach them to the dishwasher door.

Connecting a dishwasher yourself is not that difficult; even a beginner can handle this job. The main thing is to study the instructions for the PMM and strictly follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. The first start of the device is carried out in test mode, without dishes, but with detergent.
