Aqua-stop worked in Bosch dishwasher

Aquastop is a protective system that helps prevent flooding of the room in the event of a leak. This is a very useful addition that all modern dishwashers have. Many users are confused when they notice that the aqua-stop has worked in their Bosch dishwasher. We will tell you what actions need to be taken in this situation.

What should we do immediately?

You can understand how your Bosch dishwasher informs you when the Aquastop system is activated by reading the user manual. Usually the machine displays the corresponding error code. Also on the PMM inlet hose the color of the indicator changes - it turns red.

Aquastop system sensors are different. The first type is mechanical. They can be reused after operation. To do this, simply loosen the spring and slide the valve membrane inward.

Some Aquastop hoses are disposable - once triggered they cannot be used further.

If the sensor is disposable, it will become unusable immediately after the indicator turns red. The element is replaced along with the inlet hose. The instructions for the equipment describe in detail which type is installed on your Bosch dishwasher.

Replacing an Aquastop hose with a Bosch PMM is very easy. Required:

• turn off the water supply to the dishwasher;
• unscrew the old hose;
• connect the new pipe in the same way.

There are dishwashers equipped with an Aquastop electromagnetic system. In this case, you will additionally need to connect a wire with an electrical connector to a sensor that detects leakage. The cable comes out of the protective element, and its groove is located near the filler valve of the machine.

What to do when Aquastop is triggered due to detection of water in the dishwasher tray? How to unlock the “home assistant”? PMM Bosch, having detected a leak, displays error code E15. The float located below floats up, and the “intelligence” immediately activates the protective system.

When the Aquastop system is activated, the PMM drain pump automatically starts.

The pump begins to pump water from the machine into the sewer to prevent flooding of the room. Also, when error E15 is displayed on Bosch dishwashers, the “Tap” indicator always flashes. It informs you that the machine has cut off the fluid supply to the system.

Why did water end up in the pan of the machine?

What to do if the dishwasher detects a leak? First, wait until the pump drains the water from the machine into the sewer. Secondly, turn off the power to the equipment, close the shut-off valve and try to find the cause of the problem. We’ll tell you in what cases you can fix the problem yourself, at home.

• Leak from outside. Check for any leaking plumbing or pipes near the dishwasher. Probably, someone in the household recently spilled water on the floor or on the countertop under which the PMM is located. All this could lead to water getting into the pan of the machine and triggering the Aquastop system. Eliminate the cause, drain the water from the pan, and error E15 will disappear.
• Clogged filter elements. This leads not only to difficult draining, but also to disruption of water circulation in the dishwasher and its overflow. As a result, water overflows into the pan, the float floats up and the Aquastop sensor is triggered. The solution to the problem is to clean the filters.The manufacturer Bosch generally recommends doing this after each use of the PMM, and also remembering to clean the dishes from food debris so that they do not clog the mesh.
• Use of household chemicals for manual washing. Sometimes users, unknowingly, pour regular dishwashing gel into the dishwasher, like Fairy. The product foams very strongly, and this is unacceptable for technology. As a result, foam gets into the pan, and the machine displays error E15. In such a situation, you must immediately turn off the device, unload it and leave it to dry for 2-3 days. Excessive foaming is fraught not only with triggering Aquastop, but also damage to all PMM electronics.
• Exceeding the dosage of powder for PMM or using low-quality special detergents. Even if you use household chemicals designed specifically for dishwashers, this does not exclude the possibility of an E15 error. Adding too many granules can also cause excessive foaming. All this will fall into the pan, and Aquastop will work. The problem is “treated” in the same way.
• Adding water from a sewer pipe. A fairly rare problem. This can only happen with Bosch PMMs, the drain hose of which is connected to the sink siphon. If your drain is clogged, waste may end up in the dishwasher. The machine reacts to this with the already familiar error E15. To fix the problem, find and remove the “garbage plug”, restoring normal drainage.

To avoid re-filling the dishwasher, you need to raise the drain hose of the machine to the level of the washbasin (make a loop). It is also recommended to install a check valve that will prevent liquid from the sewer from entering the device. Another option is to connect the PMM directly to the pipe, bypassing the siphon.

Having understood the reason for the appearance of code E15 on the display, it is necessary to drain the liquid from the pan. This can be done by tilting the machine back or removing the side wall of the case. You can also simply not run the PMM for 2-3 days to allow the water to dry naturally.

Problems that the master looks for and fixes

It’s not always a matter of simple faults that you can fix yourself. Sometimes the help of a specialist is required. What problems does the specialist solve?

• Leaks inside the PMM. Very often, drain pipes or water circulation paths leak, and less often, inlet hoses. The technician will perform diagnostics, tighten clamps, and replace rubber seals and seals. This kind of work is inexpensive.
• The pan gasket is leaking in the washing chamber. A typical problem with Bosch dishwashers that have been in use for more than 5 years. The seal wears out and begins to leak, allowing water into the pan. In this situation, the rubber band needs to be replaced. The technician uses the pan repair kit to fix the problem. The cost of such work is also low.
• Corrosion and leakage of the washing chamber. This breakdown is quite rare and can only happen on Bosch machines that have been used for a long time, from 7-10 years. The stamping areas at the bottom of the bunker, near the glass, rot and begin to leak. These holes are small. A temporary solution to the problem is sealing cracks with a special compound. This measure will help extend the service life of the PMM by about another year. To completely forget about the leak, you will have to change the entire dishwasher tank.
• The regenerating salt tank is cracked. The heat exchanger canister is damaged. There is always some water in the dishwasher. If you leave the machine in a room with sub-zero temperatures, the liquid will freeze.Ice will tear plastic parts, tubes and hoses. The technician will perform diagnostics and find which element has failed. The repair will consist of replacing components.
• The Aquastop sensor is faulty. The element may stick and falsely report a leak. In this case, you will need to change the “aquastop” hose. You can do this yourself, and pay a specialist only for diagnosing the PMM.

In any case, you cannot continue to operate a dishwasher that displays error E15. It is not safe. A leak can lead not only to flooding of the room, but also to equipment short-circuiting and fire.
