Aquastop sensors may be different. If you have a basic mechanical device, it can be put back into service. To do this, loosen the spring and slide the valve membrane inward. However, the designs of some sensors do not allow them to be reused after the Aquastop is triggered, and then the element is changed along with the hose. Replacing or installing an aquastop hose is very easy. You just need to turn off the water, unscrew one hose and screw another in its place. If your PMM is equipped with an electromagnetic system, then you will also need to connect a wire with an electrical connector to the sensor that detects leakage. The wire comes out of the base of the protective device, and the groove for it is next to the PMM fill valve.

What should I do if the system works when there is water in the bottom of the machine? It will be extremely difficult to determine the source of the leak on your own, so call a professional. He will disassemble the dishwasher and determine the cause.

Types of leakage sensors

As already mentioned, the ability to rehabilitate the Aquastop sensor and restore it to further operation depends on its type. There are three main types of sensors:

  • simple mechanical part;
  • electromagnetic part;

Simple mechanical valves on dishwashers are becoming less and less common. Nowadays they can only be found on some inexpensive machines from Bosch. The essence of this system is that a spring and a valve are installed on the hose. The spring is “programmed” to a certain level of water pressure. As soon as the mark is exceeded, the spring is activated and the valve instantly blocks the hose. If the pressure level is normal, then everything works as usual.

Important! The disadvantage of this system is that it only recognizes major accidents. And tiny leaks and digs, which can also lead to serious consequences, remain unattended.

Electromagnetic Aquastop is more advanced and reliable. The electromagnetic device is placed in the lower part of the PMM. It is there, into the pan, that water begins to flow when problems occur (from the hose - into the protective case, and then into the pan). A device located there immediately recognizes the danger, and a valve (or valves, if there are two of them) at the base of the hose shuts off the water that the machine pumps from the water supply. As already mentioned in the article, if the Aquastop is triggered at the bottom of the PMM, you need to call a specialist.

As for the absorbent leakage protection system, it includes a spring, a piston with a valve and absorbent material in a container. The operating principle of this technology is as follows:

  • if any, even the most minimal, leak occurs, water from the hose immediately moves into the protective casing;
  • getting on the absorbent, moisture instantly contributes to its expansion and increase in volume;
  • the absorbent puts pressure on the spring, it is activated and blocks the hose valve.

Attention! The main disadvantage of this protection system is its disposability. After swelling, the absorbent hardens within a short period of time, and the valve can no longer be returned to its previous position. That is, it will no longer be possible to reuse the valve, like the hose itself.

Absorbent Aquastops may also lack springs or pistons, but these are technical subtleties that do not particularly change the essence of the operation of the absorbent system.
