What to do if the aqua-stop works in the washing machine?

having problems with the aquastop systemModern washing machines are equipped with flood protection. The so-called “Aquastop” system constantly monitors the tightness of the hoses, pipes and tank and, if a leak is suspected, blocks the cycle: the machine stops working. The equipment is de-energized and water intake stops - this eliminates flooding of the room and a short circuit. But safety has its downsides: if the aqua-stop works in the washing machine, you will have to call a technician and restore the sensor. How to solve the problem without outside help - we'll figure it out below.

Let's find out why the system is triggered?

Most modern washing machines are protected from flooding using aquastop. This is a system that works from both “ends” of the machine. An electromagnetic valve is installed under the top cover in the inlet hose, and a sensor with a float is installed in the pan. When a leak occurs, a “chain reaction” begins:

  • water flows through the body and tank into the pan;
  • when the water level rises, the float rises;
  • as soon as the float “stands” vertically, the sensor is triggered;
  • the valve mechanism receives a signal about a leak and a command to stop the intake;
  • the valve stops pouring water;Aquastop may have worked
  • the control board stops the cycle;
  • the machine switches off in an emergency.

The Aquastop system is triggered if too much water has accumulated in the tray of the machine.

Aquastop rarely works without a reason. More often than not, a leak is to blame for the activation of the protective system. Excess liquid accumulates in the pan due to a number of problems:

  • violation of the tightness of the inlet or drain hose (torn or torn off the tee);
  • weakening of fixation on the pipes;
  • tank defect;
  • the powder receiver is clogged (the pipe is clogged in the hopper or a foreign object is stuck);
  • oil seal shift;
  • deformation of the tympanic cuff.

When the flood protection is triggered, the washing machine not only stops the cycle, but also displays the corresponding error code. Models without a screen indicate a breakdown with an indication. In any case, the answer to the question of what to do is obvious - look for and eliminate the cause.

How to fix the problem?

After activating Aquastop, the machine needs diagnostics and repair. You should turn off the control system, “drain” the machine and identify the location of the leak. Ideally, you need to invite a specialist, but it is much cheaper to find and eliminate the cause of the leak yourself. If you decide to act on your own, then adhere to the following instructions:

  • stop the running cycle (turn the programmer to the “Off” position);
  • turn on the “Drain” program (if the tidy freezes, then empty the drum manually through the garbage filter);
  • de-energize the machine by unplugging the cord from the outlet;
  • tilt the washing machine body and pour water from the pan;
  • We begin diagnosing the system.aquastop device

Aquastop will turn off automatically as soon as the pan is free of water and the float will return to the “lying” position. But the situation will repeat itself during the next wash if the cause of the leak is not eliminated. To identify the “culprit”, you will have to check all the “sore points” of the filling and drainage system.

The first step is to inspect the inlet hose. Often it cracks or breaks off the clamps, which leads to water leakage. Afterwards, the tightness of the remaining branch pipes of the machine adjacent to the tank, powder receiver and pump is assessed. The main drainage sleeve must also be examined.

The next elements of the drainage system are the pump and the snail. If they break, the outflow of water stops, the machine overflows, and a leak occurs. Then the cuff and dispenser are inspected for cracks. No reason found? Then it is necessary to disassemble the washing machine to diagnose the oil seal and tank. If the aqua stop switches on and the pan is dry, it means the sensor itself is broken. It is necessary to test the system with a multimeter to check its integrity and serviceability. Is everything visually ok? Then replacing the controller is indicated.
