How to turn on your Beko dishwasher and start the wash

After purchasing a brand new household appliance, you always want to immediately test it in action by running the first working cycle you come across. However, you should refuse such an adventure, because there are a number of preparatory procedures that must be completed before turning on the Beko dishwasher. In today’s article we will talk in detail about how to properly prepare a “home assistant” for the first launch, how to then use it in everyday life, as well as what nuances need to be taken into account in your work.

First launch of equipment

The most important thing in operating a dishwasher is to take your time and strictly follow the user manual, which always comes with the appliance. If it turns out that you don’t have the instructions at hand, then it’s okay, because now we’ll look in detail at how to properly start up the Beko washer for the first time.

Any first start should be idle, so do not rush to load the equipment with a mountain of unwashed dishes just to quickly test its performance. First of all, you need to clean the device from factory grease, dirt and dust that may have remained during assembly at the manufacturer’s factory.

But before you set up a test cleaning cycle, you need to determine the required level of severity. It directly depends on the quality of tap water in your city. You can check this as follows:

• open the tap and let the water run for about a minute;
• take a glass of water;
• unpack the pre-purchased test tape and lower it into the glass for just a second;
• shake the strip and wait about another minute;
• we study the result on the tape and compare it with the instructions;

You can also determine the level of hardness of tap water using the official website of the city water utility, where they are required to publicly post data on water quality on a monthly basis.

With this information, you can go to the PMM settings and set the appropriate level of rigidity. For example, if the test strip showed a hardness level of 3, then this level should be set in the dishwasher. What is needed for this?

• Hold the Timer and P keys for approximately 3 seconds until the countdown finishes.
• The machine will enter function selection mode, in which, using the same P button, go to the hardness mode, displayed as the English letter r.
• Using the timer button, select the desired level of hardness.
• Press the Power button to save the setting.

Now we need to add salt granules to the salt bin so that the machine does not suffer from scale formation. This step can only be skipped if your water has a hardness level of 1 or even less. If this is not the case, then proceed to loading the salt granules into the tank.

• Remove the lower basket for dishes from the washing chamber.
• Unscrew the lid of the salt bin.
• We insert a special funnel into the hole in the salt compartment, which comes complete with the Beko PMM, to make it more convenient to load salt granules.
• Fill the hopper with about a liter of water.
• Add about a kilogram of salt.
• We remove the funnel.
• Now you can stir the salt with a spoon so that the saline solution cooks faster.
• Screw the reservoir cap tightly clockwise.

Experts advise using only special salt designed for dishwashers, as its granules are cleaner and larger than those of regular certified salt, and therefore do a better job of restoring the ion exchanger.

After loading salt, be sure to ensure that the salt solution does not spill onto the bottom of the washing chamber. If this happens, then nothing bad has happened, but to avoid corrosion, it is better to wipe off the remaining salt with a cloth or immediately start the wash. The second option is preferable, which is why it is always recommended to add salt right before starting the working cycle.

All that remains is to add detergent and run the idle cycle. You can opt for household chemicals in the form of a powder, gel or tablet, which includes several products at once. Regardless of the type of product you choose, you need to add it to a special container for household chemicals, and then add rinse aid so that the dishes are streak-free after washing.

It is best to use household chemicals separately, abandoning 3-in-1 tablets and capsules, because the effect will be better and the cost will be lower.

Expensive PMM models have a special cleaning program, but if your device does not have one, you can select a standard operating cycle with a temperature of at least 60 degrees Celsius. A test run will also help make sure that all connections are made correctly, nothing is leaking anywhere, and you can start using the equipment for washing dishes. Wait a bit until the equipment cools down after the test, and then you can start a full work cycle.

Daily use of PMM Beko

We have sorted out the correct first activation of the equipment, now we need to understand how to use it correctly under normal conditions. If the equipment has already been installed and tested, all household chemicals have been loaded, and the hardness settings have been set, then all that remains is the final preparations before a specific wash.

1. Open the washing chamber door.
2. We load dishes that are not too dirty, without any leftover food, seeds or other debris, placing them correctly in baskets, placing all large utensils in the lower basket, and all small ones in the upper basket. Also, be sure to ensure that there is at least a small gap between the cutlery so that water can circulate freely between all elements.
3. We check whether the dishes do not interfere with the free movement of the sprinklers.
4. We select the appropriate washing mode, and if necessary, activate additional options, for example, half-load mode or delayed start.
5. Press the Start button to start the wash.
6. Close the washing chamber door.

After turning on the equipment, it is important not to open the door so as not to interrupt the working cycle and not get burned by hot steam when intensive washing is started. After completing the work, you need to turn off the machine and empty it of the dishes if the cutlery is already dry.

To ensure that the equipment dries faster, does not become moldy inside, and always smells pleasant, leave the machine door open for at least an hour after the working cycle.

To ensure that your dishwasher lasts as long as possible, be sure to take care of it after each operating cycle.
