What will you need to connect the dishwasher?

Immediately after purchasing their first dishwasher, newbies think that at this point they can forget about dirty dishes forever. However, this is not the case, because first you need to correctly connect and install the device, for which you need far more than just the contents of the PMM kit. To connect the dishwasher to the water supply and sewer system, you will need a whole set of additional tools and consumables, which we will tell you about today so that you are prepared in advance for all the preparatory work.

Do you need a lot of tools?

A very common misconception is that to install a dishwasher you only need to buy the dishwasher itself. In fact, for installation you will at least need an adjustable wrench, although not for working with plastic nuts on the hoses, which can simply be damaged with a wrench. The key is also needed in a situation if you have to organize a place for a “home assistant” with your own hands:

• or connect a tee tap with a ¾-inch thread;
• or organize an outlet for the inlet hose.

In addition, you will need a flathead and Phillips screwdriver, which will be needed at the stage of removing the fastenings of the filler and drain hoses, plus, for securely tightening the clamps. A screwdriver will also be useful in a situation if you have previously purchased a special siphon with an outlet for the PMM, which will need to be installed instead of the old siphon under the sink.

Consumables

If everything is simple with the list of necessary tools for installing a machine with your own hands, then with consumables everything is much more complicated.The fact is that only for the simplest installation of a dishwasher you will need:

• ¾ inch tee tap;
• plumbing FUM tape;
• mounting tape for plumbing;
• clamps.

In a situation where the machine is located far from the water supply, you need to buy either new long hoses or tools for increasing the length of the hoses - a coupling and an extension. And when there is still no connection point to the electrical network near the PMM, then you need to install it according to all the rules, that is, using a moisture-resistant socket, a machine and a wire of a suitable cross-section, most often 2.5.

Finally, you must have access to the sewer, which requires a separate tee to be installed in the sewer pipe outlet. In turn, before connecting the drain hose, a rubber cuff must be placed in this tee so that the hose does not jump out while draining waste water.

If you are not completely confident in your abilities, then it is better to call a service center specialist with professional education and experience in installing any household appliances, who will help with connecting to all communications.

Thus, installation of PMM is really an elementary process that can be easily done with your own hands without calling a specialist. But all this only applies to the situation when all the conditions for installation and initial configuration have been prepared in advance - the connection points to the water supply, sewerage and electrical networks have been properly organized. The same is with the list of tools and consumables - if everything on the list is already at home, then there will be no problems. Otherwise, you will have to urgently visit a hardware store with an extensive shopping list.
