Error E4 on Samsung dishwasher

Error E4 on Samsung dishwasherUnexpected error E4, issued by a Samsung dishwasher, informs that the float sensor installed in the tray has been activated. The Aquastop system detects a leak, intelligence switches the machine to emergency mode and starts draining. What to do in such a situation? How can I reset the code and fix the problem? What can cause a leak? Let's look into the nuances.

How to interpret E4?

Sometimes users misinterpret this error code. The instructions for the Samsung dishwasher also contain the designation 4E, which informs about problems with water filling. But in our case, this is an incorrect interpretation, since E4 is displayed on the display just after the dishwasher has been successfully filled.

If you see error E4 on the Samsung PMM display, you will have to check the leakage sensor located in the pan.

The sensor response can be either true or false. You'll have to look into the tray of your Samsung dishwasher. If there really is water inside, then you need to look for the leak.aquastop in the dishwasher tray

If the pan is dry, the float contacts may be stuck. Most often, it is for this reason that the sensor triggers falsely. In this case, cleaning the oxidized elements will help.

The pump in most Samsung dishwashers is not secured with additional bolts, but is held on by a single latch. Over time, this fastening becomes loose and backlash occurs. Therefore, often the reason for the actual operation of the sensor is a leak between the pump and the PMM volute.

There is a rubber gasket between the pump and the volute. Due to play, the seal wears out faster and begins to leak water.The liquid enters the pan, as a result of which the Aquastop sensor is triggered and the machine displays error E4. How to get your dishwasher working again? Let's look into the nuances.

Restoring the connection between the pump and the cochlea

To get to the drain pump of a Samsung dishwasher, you will have to partially disassemble its body. First you need to turn off the power to the dishwasher. If error E4 occurs, the PMM automatically starts draining, so there will be no water in the hopper.

Next, you need to remove all the contents from the machine: the dishes and the baskets themselves. Then the PMM is disconnected from the water supply and sewerage and pulled out of the niche in which it is installed. After this, you can start disassembling. Further algorithm of actions:

  • drain the water from the pan by tilting the machine back;
  • place the dishwasher on the floor;
  • deal with the latches holding the bottom of the PMM;dismantling the PMM pallet
  • remove the pan, having first disconnected the float sensor chip;
  • find the pump, disconnect all wires and pipes from it;
  • turn the drain pump counterclockwise half a turn and pull it out of the machine body;The clamp on the dishwasher is loose
  • inspect the rubber gasket on the pump.

Next, two solutions are possible. The first thing is to simply put on a new rubber band. However, it is worth keeping in mind that due to play, the seal will wear off again after a couple of years, and the repair will have to be repeated. Secondly, not only replace the gasket, but also secure the pump additionally to prevent premature wear of the o-ring.

Of course, it would be more correct not only to install a new gasket, but also to secure the pump. Further algorithm of actions:

  • purchase a similar rubber seal;
  • put a new gasket in place of the old one;
  • Using a thin drill, 1.5 cm in diameter, make several holes in the eyes of the pump housing and the corresponding places on the volute;
  • screw self-tapping screws into the drilled holes;
  • Reinstall the pump into the dishwasher body.

This will provide additional fixation of the drain pump. The backlash will go away and the elastic will not wear out prematurely. After this, all that remains is to put the pan in place, connect the leakage sensor, connect the machine to the communications and start the test cycle.

Siphon gasket leaking

Another possible cause of error E4 is a siphon gasket leak. When the seal between the siphon and the hopper is damaged, water begins to seep into the pan of the machine. The solution to the problem is to replace the rubber band. You can order new components on the Internet for a specific Samsung PMM model.

It is recommended to additionally treat the place where the rubber seal is installed with silicone moisture-resistant sealant.

The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • de-energize the PMM and disconnect it from communications;
  • remove the machine from the niche in which it is installed;
  • remove the lower and upper baskets and the cutlery tray from the dishwasher;
  • remove the garbage filter from the machine (the glass remaining in the hopper is the PMM siphon, which ensures the removal of waste liquid into the sewer);unscrew the dishwasher filter
  • remove the plastic cover from the siphon and the seal itself;remove the plastic cover and seal
  • turn the machine over and remove its pan, having first disconnected the contacts of the float sensor;
  • turn off and remove the recirculation pump from the machine;
  • unhook the drain hose;
  • turn off and remove the drain pump (it is secured with two bolts);
  • remove the siphon from the dishwasher;
  • treat the place where the sealing rubber is placed with sealant;apply sealant to the seal seat
  • put the gasket in place, also lubricate the seal on top with sealant, wait 10-15 minutes;
  • attach the siphon to the tank and secure it with the previously removed plastic cover;
  • replace the circulation pump and pump;
  • connect the drain hose;
  • place the pan, connect the leakage sensor;
  • return the machine to a vertical position.

It is necessary to wait for the sealant to “set”. Therefore, it is better to start the Samsung dishwasher for the first time after such a repair at least a day later. If everything is done correctly, error E4 will no longer appear on the display.

Sometimes an error code is displayed not due to a leak, but due to incorrect operation of the control module. The semiconductor on the board is damaged, causing the self-diagnosis system to produce unreliable information. It is better to invite a specialist to diagnose and repair the electronic unit.
