Error E7 in Gorenje washing machine

Error E7 in Gorenje washing machineIf your Gorenje washing machine suddenly stops and shows “E7” on the display, it means there are difficulties with draining. The machine cannot empty the tank and complete the wash; moreover, because the drum is full, it is impossible to open the hatch and get things out. It is difficult to immediately say where exactly the failure occurred - consistent diagnostics of all key drainage units is necessary. Even an ordinary user can cope with resetting error E7. The main thing is to remember safety precautions and follow certain instructions.

What does the error mean?

The appearance of error E7 on the Gorenje display always indicates problems with the drainage system. In simple words, the machine cannot pump water out of the tank: the drainage is too slow, and within the measured time the liquid level does not fall below the “min". First, the washer tries to repeat the reset, but after the second unsuccessful attempt it cancels the cycle, stops responding to user commands and displays a warning code. The Gorenje washing machine has difficulty draining for several reasons:

  • the drain filter is clogged;
  • the pump is faulty, clogged or has lost connection with the control board;
  • the pressure switch has failed;
  • the control board is broken.

Error E7 indicates problems with the drain, filter, pump, pressure switch or electronic unit.

The symptoms of each listed failure are almost identical, so without diagnostics the cause of the failure cannot be determined. You will have to check each possible problem one by one, starting with the simplest one, the filter, and ending with the most complex one - the control board. We will consider in detail what exactly to do and in what sequence.

Is the filter element clean?

Diagnosis of the drainage system of the Gorenje washing machine begins with the garbage filter. This is a spiral-shaped nozzle on which debris that gets into the machine settles. Without timely cleaning, the “spiral” becomes clogged, preventing water from draining from the tank into the sewer. The instructions on what to do are simple: find the filter, unscrew it and clean it of dirt. In more detail, the algorithm is as follows:

  • turn off the power to the washing machine and “cut it off” from the water supply;
  • find a rectangular or round technical hatch door in the lower right corner of the body;never cleaned the filter
  • pry the door with a flat screwdriver and disconnect it from the body;
  • place a container under the opened filter to collect water (an ordinary basin will do);
  • grab the protrusion on the filter and start unscrewing (slowly, clockwise);
  • Remove the nozzle and collect the spilled water.

Having taken out the filter, we begin cleaning. First, large debris is cleaned off, then the surface of the spiral is treated with soap and a toothbrush, and finally washed with water. To remove heavy dirt, a thick layer of scale or hardened soap scum, it is recommended to soak the nozzle in a warm lemon solution for 1-3 hours.

Then we move on to cleaning the filter seat. We wash the walls of the hole with a soapy sponge and take out the remaining debris. Be sure to shine a flashlight inside and check the remaining drainage elements: pipes, snail and pump. Particular attention should be paid to the pump impeller - it is often blocked by wound hair or a stuck object. Everything unnecessary must be removed, otherwise the error will not be cleared.

Let's check the pump

Fault code E7 also appears if there are problems with the pump. The pump itself rarely gets clogged; more often it fails due to natural wear and tear or power failure.To make a “diagnosis”, it is necessary to dismantle the device and inspect it. The procedure is as follows:

  • disconnect Gorenje from communications;
  • drain the water from the drum and powder receptacle if the machine is left with a full tank;
  • lower the equipment to the floor, carefully placing it on the back wall;
  • find the pump fixed on the cochlea;it's all the pump's fault
  • disconnect the connected wiring from the pump;
  • establish contact between the device and a pre-prepared conductor with a plug for direct connection to the electrical network;
  • check the reliability of the connection to avoid current leakage;
  • plug the plug into the socket and evaluate the behavior of the device.you will need to check the pump with a multimeter

Did the pump connected to the mains work, hum and spin the impeller? This means everything is fine with the device. It will become clear that error E7 was caused by a breakdown of the pressure switch or control board. If the pump is silent or remains motionless, you will have to change the device.

When looking for replacement parts, you must consider the serial number of your Gorenje washing machine.

We also allow another option for diagnosing the pump. It is enough to connect a multimeter to the pump in ohmmeter mode and measure the resistance. A properly functioning device will show a value in the range of 150-260 Ohms. If “0” is displayed, then a current leak and a short circuit are confirmed, if “270” or more, a winding break has occurred. Repairing such breakdowns cannot be corrected; it is too time-consuming and expensive. It is more profitable and faster to replace the device with a new one. The third test option is called mechanical and is carried out as follows:

  • dismantling the snail;
  • unwinding the impeller manually (intermittent rotation with some effort is considered normal);
  • loosening of the blades across the axis (even the slightest play is an indication for replacement);
  • connection to the electrical network (the pump should operate almost silently, without stops or failures).

The new pump is selected strictly according to the serial number of the existing Gorenje washing machine. The ideal option is to bring the old pump to the store and ask them to find an analogue. It is better to consider only original spare parts that match the previous ones in terms of power and type of fastening.

The pressure switch pipe is clogged

If the drainage is clean and the pump is working properly, then the cause of the failure may be the pressure switch. This is a level sensor that sends data to the board about the degree of filling of the tank. If the device does not work correctly, the module does not receive the necessary information and does not give a command to drain. The system stops and displays error E7. To check the serviceability of the pressure switch, you must:

  • disconnect Gorenje from communications;
  • remove the top cover;
  • near the right wall, find a pressure switch - a black or white plastic “box”;
  • loosen the screws holding the sensor;pressure switch under the top cover
  • remove the “box” along with the connected hose;
  • Inspect the device for damage and blockages.

A visual check is not enough. It is recommended to find a tube commensurate with the sensor fitting, place it against the pressure switch hose and blow lightly into the hole. A working device will “respond” with 2-3 clicks due to closed contacts, and a broken one will ignore the air flow. In the second case, replacement is necessary.

If the drainage, pump and pressure switch are working properly, then there is only one option left - a failure in the control board. It is strongly not recommended to diagnose the module at home. It’s better not to take risks and entrust the inspection and repair of electronics to professionals.

    It’s the same problem, it beeps and displays E 7, I tried setting a different washing mode, just rinsing and spinning, no result.
