Error F6 in the Atlant washing machine

Error F6 in the Atlant washing machineError F6 appears on the Atlant washing machine at the very beginning of the wash cycle. The user starts the cycle with the “Start” button, but the drum remains motionless, and the self-diagnosis system displays “six”. The program freezes and requires you to reset the code. We suggest you figure out what is hidden behind F6 and how to reset the error.

Let's decipher the code

It is not difficult to understand what this code means. In the factory instructions, the combination “F6” stands for “failure of the reverse relay.” In simple words, the engine of the Atlant washing machine does not start.

Error F6 on Atlant washing machines indicates a breakdown of the electric motor.

From the technical side, a normal engine start looks like this:

  • the user starts the machine by turning the selector and pressing “Start”;
  • the control board gives the command to start the machine;
  • the engine, or rather the relay coil, receives starting current;
  • a magnetic field is formed, which gradually tightens the core;
  • the core in turn drives the contact and closes the circuit;
  • The motor winding is activated, the engine starts and gains speed.

If the engine does not start, then a failure occurred in the fourth step. The main reasons: overheating of the winding or damage to the relay contacts. Damaged electric brushes and peeled lamellas also cause problems.there was a problem with the engine

Diagnostics will help to more accurately determine the nature of the malfunction. But before you start testing the engine, you should rule out an accidental “glitch” of the system. Therefore, we disconnect the power cord from the outlet, wait 15-20 minutes and repeat the startup. If the error is not reset, then you will have to identify the breakdown.

Motor test

It is better to entrust engine diagnostics to a professional repairman. However, you can figure out what to do and in what sequence on your own. The main thing is to first study the design of the motor and remember safety precautions. Our instructions will help you cope with the task.

Before starting the repair, let's remember how the engine works. Atlant washing machines are equipped with a commutator motor, which is compact and has higher power. The drive in this case is a belt drive - the engine and the drum shaft are connected by a belt through a pulley wheel. Inside, the part consists of several main parts: a rotor, a stator and electric brushes. There is also a tachogenerator that controls the acceleration speed.

Atlant washing machines have commutator type motors.

To start checking the motor, you need to remove it from the machine, proceeding as follows:

  • remove the back wall of the machine by unscrewing the corresponding screws;
  • Rotating the pulley, unhook the drive belt;
  • take a photograph of the position of the wiring connected to the engine;
  • release the wires;let's check the engine
  • loosen the bolts holding the engine;
  • swing the part and pull it towards you.

Having taken out the engine, we place it on a dry, flat surface and begin checking. We connect the wiring from the stator and rotor windings, and then apply 220 V to them. Under voltage, the engine should begin to pick up speed. If this does not happen, then the motor is damaged and needs repair.

This method has its drawbacks. Firstly, it is impossible to test the operation of the motor in different modes. Secondly, connecting the engine directly is risky due to the possibility of a short circuit. Although, as a last resort, you can reduce the risks by including ballast in the circuit in the form of a heater.When leaking, the latter will begin to heat up, protecting the engine from fire. But supplying current is only the initial stage of diagnosis; then it is necessary to check other elements of the device, brushes, lamellas and windings.

At the same time we look at the brushes, lamellas, winding

Error code F6 is also displayed due to damaged electric brushes. There are two of them on the engine, and they are located on the sides of the housing. These are small cases containing springs and carbon tips. The latter are erased during operation, since in this way they smooth out the friction force emanating from the motor.

It is necessary to check whether the “charcoals” on the brushes have been worn away. We proceed like this:inspect and change brushes

  • loosen the bolts holding the brushes;
  • compress the springs and unhook the brushes from the body;
  • open the case of each brush;
  • We estimate the length of the tip (normal length is more than 1.5 cm).

Electric brushes are replaced only in pairs!

If the coal on the brush is less than 1.5 cm, then you need to replace them with new ones. The parts are replaced in pairs, even if the second one has not yet worn off. A replacement is selected based on the serial number of the engine or washing machine. Ideally, you should bring damaged electric brushes to the store and ask them to find an analogue. To install, follow the instructions described above, only in reverse order.

Next in line are the lamellas. These are metal plates that are attached with glue directly to the shaft, transmitting current to the rotor. However, over time, the layers collapse and delaminate, which leads to impaired current exchange. If the detachment is small, then you can grind off the defect on a lathe or with sandpaper.

The engine does not start even if the winding is damaged.A break in the wire circuit causes a short circuit, the motor heats up above normal, the temperature sensor detects the critical temperature and automatically turns off the current supply. The next time you start the situation repeats, and repeated starts will lead to damage to the thermistor. To repair the device, you need to perform a number of simple steps.

  1. Take a multimeter.
  2. Enable “Resistance” mode.
  3. Attach the probes to the lamellas.
  4. Evaluate the result (the norm is 20-200 Ohms).

If “1” is displayed, then a short circuit has occurred; if “0” is displayed, there is a break. It doesn’t hurt to check the stator for breakdown: turn on the buzzer and apply the probes. There is no point in repairing a damaged engine - it is cheaper to buy a new one.
