Bosch dishwasher beeps

If you notice that your Bosch dishwasher is squeaking, immediately begin diagnostics. First, it is necessary to exclude domestic reasons, then technical ones. A squeak can signal completely different problems, ranging from a clogged filter to damage to the control module. We’ll tell you how to check the “home assistant” and which nodes to pay attention to first.

What causes the squeaking sound?

Squeaking is not a good “symptom”. On the one hand, it may indicate a trivial user error, on the other, a serious problem. First of all, it is necessary to exclude household reasons, such as installing the machine out of level, overloading the equipment with dishes, or careless handling of the device.

It could also be due to poor power supply. The dishwasher perceives sudden changes in voltage, an increase or decrease in current as a breakdown. Intelligence immediately reacts to such incidents, displays a fault code on the display and turns on an audible signal - that same squeak.

Another possible reason is poor quality of tap water. Squeaking during operation can be observed when the liquid is highly rigid and heavily contaminated. Also check the pressure in the pipes - if it is weak, the dishwasher will not like it.

The listed problems should be eliminated first. If there are no such violations, then the problem is probably a malfunction of some part of the dishwasher. The most typical causes of squeaking:

• damage to the intake valve;
• clogged mesh filter provided in front of the filling valve;
• burnout of the drain pump winding;
• drainage violation;
• incorrect operation of the aquasensor (sensor that monitors the degree of contamination, turbidity and hardness of tap water);
• failure of the heating element;
• clogged sprinklers;
• temperature sensor failure;
• damage to UBL;
• violation of the tightness of the working chamber due to wear of the rubber seal;
• garbage filter clogged.

A squeak when turned on may indicate damage to the main control unit PMM.

A control module failure is the most serious malfunction. This can be caused by power surges in the network or a failure in the firmware. Also, semiconductor elements oxidize when moisture gets on the board.

Thus, the machine will beep when it detects any, even the most minor, problem. A dishwasher squeak is a signal of detected irregularities in the operation of the appliance. Therefore, be patient and discard one possible reason after another.

How to find the problem that caused the squeak?

Usually the squeak is not the only “symptom”. If you carefully inspect the dishwasher, you may find other signs of malfunction. The main ones:

• After washing, dirt, stains, and traces of detergent remain on the dishes;
• water streaks are visible on the PMM body;
• the liquid from the washing chamber drains very slowly or does not go down the drain at all;
• the water in the working chamber does not heat up to the set temperature;
• during the process of collecting liquid, a strong hum is heard;
• when you turn on the dishwasher, all indicators on the dashboard begin to flash;
• The PMM cannot activate the washing or rinsing program.

The error code issued by the dishwasher helps to narrow down the range of possible breakdowns.

If your Bosch dishwasher is equipped with a display, then in most cases, along with a squeak, a code is displayed on the display. All errors are explained in the instructions for the PMM. What symbols appear on the scoreboard more often?

• E1 or E11 inform about problems with water heating.
• E14 indicates incorrect operation of the water flow sensor.
• E15 indicates the activation of the Aquastop system.
• E16 notifies about random injection of water into the washing chamber.
• E17 - the machine cannot take in water.
• E2 signals a breakdown of the temperature sensor.
• E21 indicates that the pump is not operating correctly.
• E27 informs about problems with external power or internal wiring.
• E5 notifies that the maximum permissible water level in the bunker has been exceeded.

By deciphering the error generated by the machine, you can narrow down the range of possible faults. Some codes indicate failure of various sensors, so you need to be more careful.

A more accurate diagnosis can be carried out by a service center technician. Specialists have at their disposal the equipment necessary to identify hidden breakdowns. It is not necessary to take the equipment to the workshop; the inspection of dishwashers is carried out at home and takes about 20 minutes.

Priority user actions

What to do if the machine starts beeping while working? Wait until the PMM drains the water, then turn off the power to the equipment and remove the dishes from the working chamber. After this, you can begin diagnosing the “home assistant”.

First of all, check the water pressure in the pipes, the voltage in the electrical network, and whether the drain and fill hose are kinked. Then open the block with the inlet valve, which is located behind the PMM housing. Clean the mesh filter.

Inspect the machine for leaks. Open the door and make sure the door lock works. Clean the dishwasher garbage filter.

When the above actions do not bring results, an in-depth diagnosis of PMM will be required. If you do not have the skills, then it is better to entrust the work to the service center specialists. The technician will perform high-quality repairs and “reanimate” the machine.

Lock didn't work

If the dishwasher starts beeping a few seconds after the program starts, it's probably a problem with the door lock. When the interlock fails to operate, the system remains leaky and the intelligence cannot proceed with the cycle. Sometimes the “tongue” of the device is damaged. If there is a magnetic mechanism on the PMM, then the problem may be its demagnetization.

You can try to repair a mechanical lock, but experts still recommend replacing the mechanism immediately. It is better to install branded Bosch blockers that are suitable specifically for your PMM.

Lack of tightness can be caused not only by a broken lock, but also by an unsatisfactory condition of the door seal. The rubber may crack, dry out, or, on the contrary, swell. In this case, the gasket will need to be replaced.

Sometimes it's not a matter of defects, but a lack of proper care for the equipment. Dirt and pieces of food accumulate on the rubber band, causing the door to not close tightly. In such a situation, cleaning the seal will help.

“Suspected” thermistor

A faulty temperature sensor interferes with the normal operation of the Bosch dishwasher. A broken thermistor transmits incorrect readings to the “brain”. The control module, having received incorrect information, triggers an audible signal, warning the user of a problem.

To get to the thermostat, you will have to partially disassemble the dishwasher body. Sensor diagnostics are performed with a multimeter.A burnt-out thermistor cannot be repaired; it will need to be replaced.

Leak protection reacted

The Aquastop system, having detected excess water in the structure, immediately blocks the operation of the dishwasher. The device starts beeping. Either the sensor on the inlet hose may work, then its indicator will turn red, or the float located in the PMM pan will float up.

Inspect the inlet hose. If the indicator changes color, the pipe will have to be replaced. To drain water from the PMM pan, tilt its body back.

Sometimes Aquastop works on a false signal. This happens when the rubber seal in the inlet hose is displaced. The machine begins to perceive the flow of water entering the system as a leak and turns off.

The causes of leakage are different; in any case, they must be eliminated. Water gets into the pan due to a clogged garbage filter, and, as a result, overfilling of the hopper, the use of low-quality detergents, corrosion of the working chamber, etc.

A heating element

If the water in the dishwasher remains cold, you need to check the heating element. Failure of the heating element is a fairly common malfunction. Its breakdown may be caused by:

• scale formation on the body (heating elements primarily suffer from hard water);
• oxidation of tracks;
• burnout of the coil responsible for heating.

In Bosch dishwashers, the heating element is located in the same housing with the circulation pump.

If the problem is scale, you can simply clean the heater. For this purpose, special household chemicals are used. After removing the plaque, test the operation of the heating element.

The heating element can also be repaired if the contacts of the internal wiring are oxidized. You will need to clean the leads and solder the tracks.

If the heater is burnt out, then only replacing it will help. In this case, repair will be impractical. When purchasing new components, pay attention to the Bosch PMM model and the power of the factory heating element.

If the motor, recirculation pump or control module malfunctions, it is better to contact a Bosch service center. Troubleshooting complex problems requires a certain level of training, experience and knowledge. Otherwise, you can only damage the machine even more.
