Electrolux dishwasher does not drain water

Electrolux dishwasher does not drain waterIf you find dirty water at the bottom of the dishwasher chamber at the end of the cycle, there is no need to be upset. This does not always indicate some serious problem. Often an Electrolux dishwasher does not drain water due to a simple blockage. Let’s figure out how to get the “home assistant” back on track. We'll tell you what to pay attention to first.

Filter check

If you notice that the dishwasher does not discharge water into the drain, do not rush to call the technician. To begin with, rule out trivial problems. First, check to see if the drain hose is squashed. Perhaps the corrugation is bent and it will be enough to correct it.

Feel the drain hose for blockages. Perhaps it is clogged from the inside, and therefore water does not flow into the drain. To rinse the element, disconnect it from the machine and siphon. You can clean the corrugation with a long metal wire.

Next, make sure the garbage filter is not clogged. Residues from the dishes may well clog the part. The filter element is located at the bottom of the washing chamber.

Electrolux dishwashers, like many others, have not one filter, but a whole filter assembly. The design consists of several parts:

  • internal fine filter;
  • coarse filter;
  • external filter mesh;
  • supporting elements.cleaning the dishwasher filter

To check the filter assembly, you must:

  • turn off the power to the dishwasher;
  • close the shut-off valve responsible for the water supply;
  • scoop out stagnant water from the bottom of the washing chamber;
  • Unscrew the garbage filter and remove the mesh.

Inside you can find not only pieces of food. There may be shards of glass, toothpicks, and fruit seeds. It is necessary to clean the recess, and disassemble the filter assembly itself into its components and rinse in warm water.

If the filter is very dirty, it is better to use special detergents. You can also soak the parts in water with citric acid or baking soda. The mesh is cleaned with a toothbrush.

It is recommended to disassemble and clean the PMM dust filter at least once a month.

The more often the filter unit is cleaned, the easier and faster it will be. When finished, install the filter in its original place. If it was heavily soiled, the dishwasher will begin to drain the water without any problems.

Eliminate sewerage problems

What to do if the PMM garbage filter turns out to be clean, and the reason is definitely not there? You need to make sure there is no blockage in the sewer pipe or siphon. To do this you should:

  • disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the siphon;
  • direct the free end of the hose into a basin or other container;
  • run a short cycle;
  • Observe the dishwasher at work.

If the reason was a clogged siphon or sewer pipe, then the machine will now begin to drain water from the washing chamber. It will be possible to pause the cycle and start cleaning communications. How to do it?

First of all, turn off the water supply to the apartment. Then you will have to disassemble the siphon. Prepare rubber gloves, a container for dirty water and a dry cloth. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:Sink siphon clogged

  • unscrew the upper and lower rings securing parts of the siphon, and then disconnect it from the pipe;
  • drain the water accumulated inside;
  • remove all contaminants from the siphon, rinse the part under running warm water;
  • assemble the siphon and put it in place.

If you don’t have time to disassemble the siphon, you can try cleaning it using special household chemicals.Typically, the PMM is connected to a device under the kitchen sink. So buy the product and pour it into the sink, following the instructions on the package.

Sometimes the blockage occurs not in the siphon, but in the sewer pipe itself. It will be difficult to fix it yourself, so it is better to call a plumber. The technician will use special tools to remove the debris plug.

If the dishwasher does not drain water even after disconnecting the drain hose, then the problem is not in the siphon. Next in line for inspection is the pump. There may be a foreign object stuck between the impeller blades, which is blocking the pump's operation. Let's figure out how to proceed.

Pump impeller jammed

If water still remains in the PMM even after cleaning the filter assembly and siphon, then you will have to check the drain pump. It is the pump that is “responsible” for pumping waste liquid into the sewer system.

You can check the Electrolux dishwasher pump yourself. To gain access to the pump, you will have to partially disassemble the body of the “home assistant”. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:it's all the pump's fault

  • de-energize the PMM;
  • disconnect the device from the water supply and sewerage;
  • wipe the washing chamber dry;
  • Place the dishwasher on the floor, remove its tray;
  • disconnect the drain hose and wiring from the pump;
  • unscrew the drain pump;
  • check the rotation of the impeller.

Sometimes a foreign object gets stuck between the impeller blades. This blocks the drain pump from working. In this case, it will be enough to clean the pump and install it in its original place.

You can check the drain pump for functionality using a multimeter.

The multimeter will need to be switched to resistance measurement mode. After this, the tester probes are applied to the pump contacts.Normally, the device should produce a reading of about 200 Ohms. If the value is very different, the pump will have to be replaced; it cannot be repaired.

Install the pump into the dishwasher in the reverse order. After attaching the drain hose and wires to the pump, you can begin assembling the housing. Next, the test cycle starts - the machine should start draining water into the sewer.pressure switch replacement process

If all of the above steps do not work, then the problem may be:

  • pressure switch;
  • control module.

The pressure switch controls the water level in the washing chamber. When the sensor is not functioning correctly, the readings will be incorrect. Therefore, the control module will not give a command to drain the waste liquid from the machine. The device will have to be replaced.

It could also be a problem with the dishwasher's software module. Diagnostics and repair of the electronic control unit should be entrusted to specialists. This is a very complex device consisting of numerous elements. Without sufficient experience and skills, you can harm the PMM even more.

If you notice that the Electrolux machine does not drain water, start checking with basic things. First of all, inspect the drain hose, then clean the dishwasher garbage filter. If everything is in order, check if there is a blockage in the sewer system. Then inspect the pump. When none of this helps, it is better to seek help from service center specialists.
